Tech as an enabler to a fulfilled workforce

Remote working has been a popular theory for many employees, but not much of a practical reality in the workplace. Now that we've been forced to grapple with it, South African businesses of all sizes have discovered that empowering their workforce to operate from home has far-reaching benefits for everyone involved.

In fact, remote working can have a direct impact on many of your key business metrics:

  • Costs are reduced by saving on office space and other office provisions;

  • Staff retention and a broader hiring pool with relocation no longer being a factor;

  • Commute times (and stress!) are reduced, offering staff more time to be productive at work, as well as opportunities for meaningful activities before or after the workday.

There’s no doubt that when people have a better work-life balance, we are happier and more productive as a result.

But managing a remote workforce is an entirely different ball game and, when the time is right for you, it helps to know what you are getting into. Having a remote workforce does bring in the complexity of securing your data and managing how your team accesses that data from locations outside of your complete control.

In the case study we share this month, we show how our client's remote and international teams were transitioned seamlessly into their cloud-based accounting environment within a week, future-proofing them for times to come.

And with all devices now 'in the field', we know managing those assets can be a nightmare so take a look at our quick review on Microsoft InTune - a wonderful tool to ensure compliance across your users and devices.

Enabling a team to work remotely is an ongoing challenge, and we get that this challenge is different for every organisation. Give us a shout if you'd like to explore how you can simulate your company work (and play!) culture into your virtual office.

Migrating an Accounting System to the Cloud.
Uwoyela improves efficiency for remote workers

We often find that, as a small-to-medium business grows, a complete rethinking of the technology approach is necessary to get to that crucial next level.

This is the position in which Uwoyela found themselves a few years back, as they considered our fit for their future tech needs.

Within a week, Uwoyela’s accounting system was now in the Cloud available for any authorized person to access from anywhere – with the added benefit of 2x processing times and a 99% reduction in failed transactions.

Uwoyela’s Ms Juanita Coetzee was delighted with the results: “Geek Managed Service performed our migration in a diligent and professional manner, and have continued to offer us professional and personable services.”

Microsoft Intune: the way to go for Cloud Device & Application Management

As a result of Covid-19, many organisations have not returned to the office or have permitted only a few of their employees to return to the office in order to align with the social distancing regulations enabling the rest of their workforce to work remotely.

The need for remote monitoring and management of company devices have been on the increase since the start of lockdown, as well as the need to ensure secure data access from many different locations.

There are many third-party tools that cater to this compliance need. However, there are only a select few that allow you to manage everything from one endpoint - one of them being Microsoft Intune.
